DB issues directions in PIL on protection, restoration of Dal lake

JAMMU, Oct 1: In the much publicized Public Interest Litigation on protection and restoration of Dal lake to its original position, a Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rashid Ali Dar observed that Vice Chairman of the LAWDA, who is also present in the court and informs that the steps for formulating the list of occupants who were required to be rehabilitated and the rehabilitation programme is under active consideration and would be finalized very shortly.
Upon this DB directed to file the programme be finalized and placed before this court.
When the PIL Came-up for hearing, DB observed that the status report has been filed by the J&K State Pollution Control Board. MM Shah, Legal Advisor of the J&K State Pollution Control Board is present in person. He informs this court that certain samples which have been taken to ascertain the status of pollution levels are under analysis and further reports will be filed before this court.
DB further observed that no report has been filed by the Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) and it is informed by Senior AAG that the report is ready and will be filed within two days, DB directed let the same be so done.
DB further observed that this court is informed that the Committee of Experts is holding a meeting in Delhi day after tomorrow. The Minutes of the Meeting/Action Taken Report be placed before us before the next date.
