Training programme on women food security organized

Jammu, Oct 1: Department of Agriculture & Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu(SKUAST-J) organized one day training programme on "Women Food Security" under Agriculture Technology Management Agency(ATMA) scheme here today at remote village Kothian in Pouni block of Reasi district of J&K. Large number of women farmers of the area enthuastically participated in the programme. The programme was co-ordinated by Omkar Singh Chaodhary, Chief Agriculture Officer, Reasi and Mohan Lal, Sub-Division Agriculture Officer (SDAO), Reasi Sushil Kumar Suri ,Agriculture Extension Officer initiated the programme with the warm welcome of the participants. He briefed the objective of the programme and urged women farmers to grow organic vegetables in their fields so that they can produce the safe vegetables for their health. Romesh Kumar Khosa,Deputy Director ATMA gave a detail view on women food security. He stressed on the balanced diet and guided the women farmers on quality vegetables production. He also discussed on the nutritional gardens and suggested women farmers to use the quality vegetables seeds. He said that the women farmers should take the opportunities to become the agri-entrepreneurs and by doing so they can increase their income and employment.
