VIJAYPUR, Oct 11: The local residents of Vijaypur have accused the Samba administration of betrayal by not providing relief to them in toll fee by National Highway Authority of India. They alleged that administration has backtracked from its promise as earlier it was said that the locals residing with radius of 20 kilometers will be kept out of toll fee.
They further said that with the inauguration of Toll Plaza on Oct 10, 2019, the NHAI has started charging toll fee and the locals who were promised not to be charged have not been spared and passes are being issued to them. "NHAI has been issuing passes to the locals at the rate of Rs 265 per month, which has drawn strong resentment among the locals terming it betrayal by the local administration," the local said.
They further said that as per the rate list, the NHAI has been charging Toll Fee of Rs 65 from Car, Jeep, Van or LMV for single journey and Rs 100 for return journey. Earlier the work of Toll Plaza was stopped by the BJP workers as a protest and discrimination against the Jammu people.
Moreover, huge traffic jam is being observed at this Toll Plaza due to mismanagement of the concerned authority. |
