Kashmir-centric leaders who groomed terrorists have nowhere to go
Mehbooba prefers VIP jail over freedom, Omar seems indecisive
10/11/2019 11:02:43 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 11: The Jammu & Kashmir administration has started releasing the politicians who are signing bonds that they won't indulge in any such activity which could create a law and order problem.
On Thursday, the administration released three politicians and the process is likely to continue. According to the media reports, Iltija Mufti, daughter of the People's Democratic Party chief and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, has said that her mother has refused to sign the bond to secure her freedom.
There are reports that another former Chief Minister and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah too is indecisive about his future course of action.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Mehbooba Mufti's party is on the crossroads as most of the leaders have quit the party and it almost stands disintegrated. NC on the other hand too seems to have no future. Leaders of both the parties are caught between the devil and the deep sea as it appears that they have been left with nothing to fall back upon."
He said, "NC leaders Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah did meet a delegation of the party leaders from Jammu but the PDP president has stayed away from meeting any of the party colleagues. It seems Mehbooba knows that her party stands nowhere in the present political scenario. She seems to have chosen the option of staying put in the VIP hut, which has been turned into a jail in Srinagar."
An observer said, "Kashmir-centric leaders at present have two choices either they join the national mainstream or switch the sides. Their pseudo-nationalism won't work anymore."
He said, "Kashmir is paying a heavy price for the appeasement policy which the PDP-led regime followed in J&K during its stint in power from 2015 onwards. The PDP-led government which was headed by Mehbooba Mufti remained soft towards terrorists and separatists and allowed them to sow the seeds of discord. The terrorists who were described as the misguided youth by the PDP leaders have taken entire Kashmir hostage and they are threatening everyone from shopkeepers to school owners. They are running an anti-people campaign to ensure that life doesn't return to normal in the Valley."
An observer said that, "Kashmir-centric leaders who are being treated as VIPs in the posh hotel and huts know it very well that even if they are released they won't be able to normalize the situation in the Valley as during all these years they have done nothing except provoking people."
