Project to shift HC to Raika-Bahu ill conceived: Citizens Forum | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 19: Citizens Forum has requested the Governor to save Jammu from mismanagement and waste of funds for the ill conceived projects for Jammu city President Citizen's Forum R K Chadha said that forum have filed a PIL in the Jammu High Court for construction of a fly over from Shakuntla Cinema to Janipur High Court which was converted to widening of the Janipur road. But after many years government has come up with this project of shifting High court to Raika-Bahu Forest area on Jammu outskirts without going in to the disadvantages of the project. Chadha said we understand the compelling reasons for the shifting of Jammu High Court, but this is not the place to go for this large project. When preparing a Jammu Smart City project the government is doing piecemeal shifting and construction of large institutions instead of a complete one project Chadha further asked where is the water availability at this site for such a big institution? A similar project of Batra Hospital at Sidhra is getting 100 water tankers per day to meet the requirement of the institution which is just one fourth of the size of the project envisaged. The environment aspects in and around the Jammu city, at present is getting clean air because of the Bahu Conservation Reserve and Ram Nagar Wild life Sanctuary, which are considered lungs of the city, will be converted in to most polluted area by cutting thousands and thousands of trees for this project. Please don't lessen the life span of Jammu citizens which is highest at 80 years in the country as per reports. What is the feasibility of approach for the Citizen Litigants from all over the Jammu region. Going to Batra Hospital becomes a problem, where patients avoid going because of no travelling facility what to talk of Raika - Bahu village. Other members signatory to the statement are ADGP S S Wazir, Dr Rav1nder Madan, Dr Arun Gupta (MIER), R K Handa VC JDA Retd, Arun Sharma, S K Gupta Retd Chief Engineers, Deepak Handa, Veena Handa and others. |
