Reasi, Oct 31: About 500 No of Poultry birds (low input technology) of about one month age were distributed free of cost among the BPL, SC, ST women (especially widows) poultry beneficiaries of Dharan, Matah, Nomal & Sai area. Earlier duly selected & approved list of such farmers received from the PRIs of these areas; & distributed among them in presence of these PRIs on the spot near High School Sai. As 75 beneficiaries received the chick pre vaccinated chick with great zeal& interested which signifies the high demand of desi chicken in the rural area. A total of about Rs 50,000/= worth chicks & feed were distributed free of cost to the beneficiaries out of the District Capex Budget under plan fund of the year 2019-20. "Thanking the District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib for allocating funds under the livestock head", Dr Ramesh Razdan, Chief Animal Husbandry officer, Reasi assured to utilize the funds under this head for the tune of 100% once further allotment is released in the coming month. "There is huge scope for poultry business/industry especially for low technology birds (LIT) which can augment the income of rural based farmers" and thus it is impressed upon the Higher Authority to expedite the establishment of POULTRY ESTATE at village Dadooa Pouni as soon as possible" he added.
