| Lawyers continue to hold protest against shifting of Registry from Courts | | Express resentment against President JKHCBAJ for his callous approach | |

JAMMU, Oct 31: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu (JKHCBAJ) today once again staged protest demonstration against the SAC decision of shifting of registry from the court to the Revenue authorities coupled with the shifting of the courts to Raika forests, who according to agitating lawyers are considered to be the lungs of Jammu.
Some of the advocates also give vent to their anger by expressing dissent against the incumbent President of Bar by terming him as member of BJP who is mulling to contest for the post of MLA due to which he allegedly sabotaged the process of redressing the grievances of lawyers who are in strike against the decision of SAC which has snatched their livelihood, particular of young lawyers.
As per the details available with Early Times, few lawyers questioned the promise made by the incumbent President with regard to the provision of stipend of Rs 7000 per month to young lawyers provided he wins the Bar elections adding that the incumbent president had said that in case he fails to provide stipend then he would resign, however, he (President) neither provided stipend nor he resigned.
Lawyers wishing anonymity said that they committed a mistake by electing this president as he played with the career of young lawyers as revenue department earned the notoriety of being corrupt and illegalities being committed by them adding that shifting of registry to revenue authorities encourage the officials to do illegalities and there is no one to check the same.
Some of the senior lawyers also termed the recent decision as arbitrary and unjustified which spells doom upon the legal fraternity and also hit out at President Bar Association for not acting over this decision when the SAC has taken this step which has ramifications once registry process gets started by revenue authorities adding that today judges refrain from doing registry while in courts there remain no hustle and bustle which was quite visible there prior to reorganization of state to Union Territory.
Lawyers in one voice amid chanting of slogans of "shame" for incumbent President Bar said that he hold executive meetings only of his close aides and refrain from doing General House Meeting which is the need of the hour to redress the grievances of lawyers for which they elected him rather they termed Bar members should refrain from displaying political affiliations once become President adding that but for his vested interest the incumbent President is not calling General House Meeting.
After massive uproar, President finally announced to hold the General House Meeting at District Court complex conference hall tomorrow at 11.30 AM besides work shall remain suspended in all the courts.
Moreover sensing gravity of the situation, President Bar Association rushed to the spot along with his office bearers and addressed the protesting lawyers that he is very much concerned about the shifting of registry to revenue authorities and shifting of courts to Raika Forest. |
