CHC Kalakote falls behind basic infrastructure, drugs, staff deficiency
11/3/2019 11:08:41 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 3: People of Kalakote, of the border district (Rajouri) have been facing severe hardships due to basic infrastructure, shortage of life saving drugs, defunct EGC, X-ray and Ultrasound Machines and many more at Community Health Centre for last many years but the Health Department has turned blind eyes towards the subject.
Sources told Early Times that CHC Kalakote is not even at the level of PHC as hospital lack basic infrastructure, like ECG, lab test analysers and Ultrasound facilities, basic drugs and others. Not even blood sugar test is being done in CHC for last 6 months. No Cannulas, dripsets, basic dressing materials are available in the hospital.
Sources further told that multiple ECG machines, lab test analysers and a fresh Ultrasound machine is lying in the hospital store for past many months but no efforts have been made for making them functional thus wasting crores of taxpayers money.
"If we talk about the shortage of the staff, no Dentist, Physician, Surgeon, Paedritician and Anaesthesiologist is posted there and only one Gynaecologist is posted there for 3 days and he only came on Thursday and leave by 4pm, "sources added.
Keeping in view of such things, the public has lost all hope of better healthcare as not even emergency life saving drug-like Adrenaline and vaccine for prevention of tetanus is not available in the hospital and after 10 pm, not even private pharmacy is available and the patient has to go to one door to another to get basic life saving drugs. The immunization programme is badly affected as immunization day from Wednesday every week is shifted to First Wednesday every month and poor babies and families are affected most. The concerned BMOs CHC Kalakote were not interested in sorting out these issues but engaged themselves in other works.
BMO CHC Kalakote Dr Ashfaq Ahmed agreed and claimed that the basic and life-saving drugs were available in the centre and other work of Ultrasound, EGC and other were under pipeline and they would be work within a short time.
