'Grand Nagar Kirtan being organized on 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji'

Jammu, Nov 5: A grand Nagar Kirtan has been organized in connection with the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, it was stated by Sardar T. S. WAZIR, Ex MLC and Chairman, State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board in a press conference held today. The Nagar Kirtan was organized by District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu along with different social and religious organizations under the patronage of Mahant Manjit Singh Ji, Mukhi, Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch and Sant Tejwant Singh Ji, Mukhi, Dera Sant Pura Danna, Guru Nanak Nagar, Jammu.
Wazir stated that being 550th parkash purab, there is a great enthusiasm among Sangat the world over as such occasions come only once in one's lifetime and Sangat of Jammu and Kashmir is expected to participate in large numbers for which adequate arrangements have been made. The Nagar Kirtan (Religious Procession) will start from Gurdwara Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Jammu on 9th November, 2019 (Saturday) at 10 a.m. and will culminate at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Nagar, Jammu at 5 p.m. The Nagar Kirtan will start from Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Jammu marching through Swami Vivekanand Chowk, Gumat Crossing, Dogra Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Asia Hotel, Green Belt Park Gandhi Nagar, District Hospital Gandhi Nagar Road, Gole Market, Shiva Chowk, Khalsa Chowk and will culminate at Gurdwara Sri Singh Sabha, Nanak Nagar, Jammu.
In this connection a meeting of DGPC Jammu along with Local Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees and Prominent Sikh leaders and personalities was organised to seek cooperation from one and all for the smooth procession of Nagar Kirtan (Religious Procession) and for the Gurpurab Celebrations.
Sardar T. S. Wazir, President, State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board Jammu & Kashmir appealed to the Sangat to participate enthusiastically and wholeheartedly in the Nagarkirtan and Gurupurab. He also requested the educational institutions to observe an holiday on the said date so that students, parents and school transport vehicles should not face any problem by the traffic congestion due to the programme and requested the public transport system i.e. matador, auto etc. to extend their cooperation by taking alternate routes to reach their destinations.
Prominent poets Bibi Davinder Kour, Bhai Sulakhan Singh Arshi, Bhai Balbir Singh Bal of Morinda, Sangeetkar Bhai Bhupinder Singh, Bibi Jatinder Kour of Sri Anandpur Sahib, Bhai Balbir Singh Kamal of Dasua, will present their poetic items and religious preachers Bhai Harbhinder Singh, Incharge, Sikh Mission, Jammu & Kashmir and Bhai Harpreet Singh Ji of Amritsar will deliver sermons highlighting the life and teachings of Guru saheb. Mr. Wazir also informed that Parkash Purab will be celebrated on 12th of November at Gurdwara Yadgar shri Guru Nanak Dev ji Chand Nagar Jammu from 10AM to 4-30 PM in which prominent Ragi Jathas and Preachers which include Giani Charanjeet Singh Ji of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Bhai Harbhinder Singh, Incharge, Sikh Mission, Jammu Kashmir, Bhai Davinder Singh Ji Bodhal, Jalandhar Wale, Bhai Gurvinder Singh Ji, Hazoori Ragi, Sri Darbar Sahib and local ragi jathas will recite kirtan and deliver sermons.
