Samoon reviews functioning of Animal, Sheep Husbandry departments

JAMMU, Nov 5: Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Dr Agar Hassan Samoon today reviewed the progress on implementation of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes and pending Utilization Certificates under different schemes at an officer's meeting held here.
The meeting was attended by Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr Tahir Beig, Director Fisheries, R K Pandita, Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu, Sanjeev Kumar, Director Planning, G M Malik, Director Finance and other concerned officers while as Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir, Purnima Mittal and Director Sheep Husbandry Kashmir, Dr Abdul Salam participated through video conferencing. During the course of meeting, Samoon emphasized the need for implementation of benefit oriented schemes in a time bound manner to achieve the set targets. He said that Animal and Sheep Husbandry is a major sector that caters to the needs of a large chunk of population in Jammu and Kashmir and several innovative steps are underway towards further strengthening it. He said that the Government is contemplating to launch several new schemes to give further enhance the income of farmers adding that livestock rearing provides sustainable economic growth, food security and agriculture development. Meanwhile, the Principal Secretary also reviewed the functioning of other allied sectors like Poultry, Dairy, Fisheries and called for initiating various measures for larger benefits of the populace in these sectors.
