Irrelevant Kashmir-centric leaders pitch for Advisory Council
11/8/2019 11:28:06 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 8: A few politicians in Jammu & Kashmir are pitching for constituting the Advisory Council, which according to them, can fill the political vacuum.
According to the media reports, some Kashmir-centric politicians who had visited New Delhi last month had suggested that Advisory Council comprising of the political leaders should be formed to make a new beginning.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "One can understand the need to form an Advisory Council in Jammu but the same can not be said about Kashmir as the leaders there have made no attempt to restore normalcy in the region."
He said, "The Kashmir-centric leaders who have been lodged at posh Centaur Hotel on the banks of Dal Lake in
Srinagar seem to be adamant on their stand and till date have not signed the bond to assure the authorities that once they are out they won't indulge in any such activity which would be detrimental for peace. Ones who signed the bond have walked out of the Centaur Hotel and are free."
The analyst said, "Names of the leaders who want to be the part of the Advisory Council are still not clear but one thing is for sure that these could be those leaders from the Valley, who have become irrelevant in the recent times. They are pressing for the formation of the Advisory Council for their sake and not for the people." He said, "At present the biggest task for the centre is to restore normalcy in Kashmir and neutralize the Pak-sponsored terrorists, who are not allowing people to resume their daily chores. Political activities can wait but life returning to normal in the Valley cannot wait."
An observer said, "Ministry of Home Affairs is trying its best to put the life back on track in the Valley and the security forces are ensuring that common people are not harassed. But on the other hand terrorists are not leaving any chance to intimidate the masses and keep them confined within the four walls of their homes. The grenades are being thrown and innocents are being shot dead for making an attempt to earn their livelihoods."
He said, "Having an Advisory Council at place at this point of time won't serve any purpose as politicians won't be able to do much. For time being they need to be kept at bay atleast till the time terrorists and their aides are taken care of. Priorities need to be defined to make things work in J&K."
