Doda Accident: all 17 passengers boarded in vehicle killed

Jammu, Nov 12: All the 17 people including three children and four women, died when a passenger vehicle (Trax) they were travelling in, rolled down from a link road to Batote-Doda highway in Doda district Tuesday afternoon.
According to sources, the vehicle Cruiser bearing registration number JK06-1182 with a carrying capacity of 10 rolled 500 feet down on main Batote-Doda highway from a link road around 2.45 pm. Only one person survived in this tragedy.
The officer informed that the vehicle with 17 passengers and a driver was on its way to Marmat from Doda when the accident occurred at Khellani. "Though it remains a subject of investigation but prima facie it appeared that the driver failed to negotiate a blind curve that resulted in the accident. The possibility of him using the mobile phone while driving also can't be ruled out. He also died in the accident. There was only one survivor, who has been referred to the government medical college and hospital in Jammu for specialised treatment," they added.
The sources the lone survivor of the accident Tanveer Ahmed son of Mohd Akram Wani was also died while on way to Jammu for advanced treatment.
Other deceased persons have been identified as Irshad Ahmed son of Abdul Majeed Wani, Tabrez Ahmed son of Mohd Shoqeen, Nasir Hussain son of Irshad Hussain Wani, Rubia Begum wife of Firdous Ahmed Wani, Sameer Ahmed son of Abdul Wahid Wani, Driver Naseer Ahmed son of Ali Jan Butt, Jabena Begum wife of Irshad Ahmed Wani, Firdous Ahmed son of Noor Mohd Wani, Hanief Ahmed son of Rustam Wani, Sadoora Begum wife of Mohd Hanief Wani, Munera Begum wife of Tehmor Ahmed Wani, Afiya Begum wife of Mohd Sayed Jaral, 7 year old boy son of Irshad Ahmed Wani, 6 & 4 year old boys son of Tehmor Ahmed Wani.
Meanwhile Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma has expressed grief and shock over loss of lives in Doda road mishap.
The Divisional Commissioner said that the accident is heart-wrenching. "We mourn all those who lost their lives and express deep condolences to the bereaved families" he said. Meanwhile, the administration has ordered an inquiry to ascertain the reasons for the tragic mishap.
Provincial President, J&K National Conference, Jammu Province, Devender Singh Rana today expressed grief and shock over deaths in a tragic road accident involving Marmat bound Doda passenger carrier at Khaleni.
"My heart goes to all those who have lost their near and dear ones in this tragic mishap", Rana said in a statement, wishing early recovery to all those who were injured in the accident. He also sought immediate release of ex-gratia to the next kith and kins of the deceased and free specialized medical treatment for all those injured in the mishap.
