Srinagar, Nov 20: The return of public transport in Srinagar city after the gap of three months have brought sigh of relief among commuters.
The public transport was off from the roads in the valley, after the centre abrogate the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcate the region into two separate Union Territories. While as after the snowfall took place in the valley, public transports were seen on the roads.
"For almost three months we used to suffer to travel from one place to another. But from last one week since the public transport are back on track, we are relieved", said Aqib Khan, a student.
He added that though there is little public transport available but that is far better than it was in last two months.
Though, there were availability of auto rickshaws but they used to charge huge amount of money from people who were in need. While as, the government had started running few State Transport Road Corporation buses on the road to accommodate the masses.
"I had to go for tuition daily for my annual exams, but since there was no public transport available I had to walk almost five to six kilometers. But I am relieved now as few public transport buses on the road", said Owais Mir to Early Times.
"There should be more public transport buses on the road as I feel normalcy has returned to the valley and most of the shops are running their business establishment whole day", he added.
While on the other hand, sumos have been ferrying resident from Srinagar city to far flung areas without any much trouble.
"I have to go for south Kashmir daily as I have to run my business there. It was very tough for two months, but now the sumo vehicles have brought some relief to us", said Imran Bhat.
Meanwhile as an official said that the Kashmir is running back to normalcy as shops are open, few schools have opened and now public transport are back on the track. It is a good sign.
