Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 28: The three day Khelo Kashmir sports event commenced in Indoor Stadium Srinagar wherein more than 500 martial arts players showcased their talent. The sports event was inaugurated by BJP National Vice President Avinash Rai Khanna on Tuesday.
Khelo Kashmir sports event was being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Development Foundation. It is pertinent to mention here that Khelo Kashmir sports event was the first sports event after the centre abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5.
In three days event at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium, players from Taekwondo, Kick Boxing, Karate and Tang Soo Do performed in front of large audience. "It was astonishing to see players performing here at the Indoor Stadium that too after a gap of over three months. Everyone in this stadium is applauding every kick and boxing", said Abid, a coach of Taekwondo.
He added, "We hope that situation remains normal and sports players who are here can practice hard again and can perform our nation India".
Meanwhile martial arts participants showed great adventure and enthusiasm during the three sports event at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor stadium. It was also for the first time that domestic, national and international martial art players were under one roof.
"I was missing this stadium. I was counting every day and I was restless at home. I wanted to practice but could not come here due to the situation", said Nayeem Bhat, kick boxing player.
He added we appeal to the authorities to organize such kind of event again and again so that players like me should come here showcase our real talent and represent our beautiful nation.
Meanwhile many participants complained that facilities at the Indoor stadium Srinagar are not up-to the mark and unanimously appealed the government to look into the problem as soon as possible.
"There should be better facilities here at the Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium. It should be made as good as other national indoor stadium so that we can perform better and can compete at international arena and win more and more medals", said Aadil Khan, Karate player.
