Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 28: The much delayed demolition drive launched by the District administration Jammu at the Satwari to pave way for the expansion of the airport has render around 61 families homeless and the administration claimed that they have provided them alternate site at the Sunjwan- but the evacuated families alleged that the site which the administration has offered to them is disputed one added that under such circumstances why they would go there- settle at the land that which the administration allotted to them is disputed.
The families who were rendered homeless by this demolition drive at the time when there is heavy rainfall going on in the area. The angry people lashes out at the administration that they adopted dictatorial attitude by resorting to harsh measures of doing demolition by using JCB machines amidst heavy contingent of security personnel and mocked at the much hyped slogan of BJP "ache din aayenge" (Good days ahead) is nothing but mere rhetoric just to hoodwink masses for vote bank politics.
The families whose houses were demolished come on the roads with their basic amenities-raising slogans against the administration for making them homeless without giving them any notice which is required as per the norms even making 90 years old age women homeless and were having choked voice and tears in her eyes was also seen giving vent to her anger and launches a blistering attack on the govt that rendered her homeless which is really shocking for them.
Angry families resented against the administration's arbitrary move- termed this demolition drive unwarranted, unjustified and uncalled calling on the administration for their proper rehabilitation and compensation as per the market rates.
Families alleged that it is good that administration started the process of doing expansion of airport but they are required first to provide the alternate site to them which should be hassle free from all encumbrances- added that they several times met with the higher ups in the administration in this regard with the request to provide them better accommodation- but they fail to pay any heed to our repeated pleas which is excellent example of autocratic rule.
Contrary to the claims made by the effected families- the officials in administration told the Early Times that they have provided them best alternative site to all the families that have rendered homeless.
"Rather we have served them the notices also-but they did not vacated the same- so we constrained to launched this massive demolition drive" the officials maintain.
The officials further stated that they are ready to provide all possible help to the displaced families as and when they approached the administration for the same.
