Amit elucidates role of stakeholders in Traffic Management

Udhampur, Dec 16: Amit Sharma, Administrator, GMC & Associated Hospitals Jammu who was working as Special Secretary to Government, Transport Department with additional charge of J&K Road Safety Council, till recent, was today invited at Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur to deliver a special talk on the Role of Multiple Stakeholders in Successful Traffic Management on roads of the state. Amit spoke at length about same in the inaugural session of a five-day Refresher Course on this subject of Traffic Regulations and Traffic Management in which officers of the traffic wing of Police department are being trained over the said period after the inauguration of said course in SKPA Udhampur by its Director IGP SDS Jamwal. Amit Sharma, having a strong background in the subject, gave a detailed presentation about the role of technology, multiple stakeholders and creation of a massive awareness campaign amongst the public being the main stakeholders towards traffic management in the UT. He further mentioned that today, technological interventions in terms of Intelligent Traffic Lighting Systems, 360 degree turning CCTV cameras at all traffic points, Speed Radars, Mobile LEDs and Public Address Systems, etc. Amit Sharma, during his address, was very particular in emphasising that there is a dire need to make a multiple stakeholders' 24x7x365 Command and Control Centre fully operational at the earliest in twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar initially, followed by all district headquarters wherein not only Traffic Police but representatives of Motor Vehicle Department, Municipal Corporations, PWD (R&B) Department, JDA/SDA, Smart City team and others have to work in tandem for successful functioning of these Command and Control Centres which have to be set-up in the heart of the cities. Amit went on to compare the role of traffic management with essential services like health, power and water supply, etc and advised the officers and officials attending the Course at SKPA Udhampur to work with total zeal and dedication to make a difference towards creating mass awareness creation which can ramifying effect in times to come and it leads to efficient and visible traffic management for ensuring the safety of people commuting on the tough hilly terrains and Highways of the Union Territory. Before culmination, SSP Mohan Lal, AD of SKPA Udhampur alongwith Course Coordinator Sr PO Vikram Parihar thanked senior JKAS officer Amit Sharma for sparing his valuable time and sharing qualitative inputs based out of his holistic experience and nation-wise exposure in the same field and Amit Sharma was presented a memento by SKPA for his special contribution here.
