JAMMU, Dec 16: The bail application of accused Sudip Syama Chakrabarty son of Shyama Chakrabarty of Taj Ganj, Uttar Pradesh, presently putting up at Prem Nagar Tee Dongri Goregaon (W), Mumbai, arrested by Crime Branch Jammu in case FIR No 24/2019 U/S 420, 120-B of RPC P/S Crime Branch, Jammu on 24-10-2019 for duping the complainants to the tune of Rs 1.53 Crore has been rejected by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jammu.
A written complaint was lodged by Dr Gafoor Ahmed of Akhnoor, Ravinder Singh Jasrotia, Rajinder Singh Andotra and Dr Syed Shayan in Crime Branch Jammu against accused Sudip Syama Chakrabarty for alluring the complainants to provide admission in private Medical colleges for MD & MS courses in RAMIAH Medical College Bangalore and duped them of an amount of Rs 1.53 crore by the accused. After preliminary verification of the complaints, a formal case FIR No. 24/2019 was registered in P/S Crime Branch Jammu. The Court has rejected the bail application of the accused observing that accused is a resident of UAE and was evading his arrest since long. However, with the help of immigration department accused has been arrested after Look out Circular was issued against the accused. The accused is presently in judicial custody. The objections filed also raised the facts that in case the accused is granted bail the recovery from him will become difficult and the other similar elements in the society will feel encouraged.
