VIP Netas don't want to talk
12/17/2019 8:56:08 PM
Kashmir-centric leaders, who have been under de tention since August 5 seem to have lost hope about their parties getting revived again. BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav while speaking during a Summit recently stated that dialogue is not one way process and leaders who are detained don't want to talk. He even threatened that the leaders who don't want to talk will be dealt in a different way. However, he fell short of defining the different way. When Kashmiri leaders were detained on August 5, they were taken to posh Centaur Hotel on banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar and were provided with all the facilities. They were treated like VIPs. The three former Chief Ministers Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were detained separately. Senior Abdullah was detained at his Gupkar residence while Omar and Mehbooba were kept in special Guest Houses on the foothills of Zabarwan mountain range in Srinagar. Even after the Government of India revoked J&K's special status and bifurcated the erstwhile state into two Union Territories, the Kashmiri Netas were given VIP treatment. Now, these VIP leaders seem to have become threat to peace as they are not ready to assure the administration that they won't indulge in any politicking which could lead to law and order problems. These leaders know it very well that they have been left with nothing to sell as no one would buy their rhetoric anymore. They won't be able to manipulate the situation by raising the slogans of autonomy, self rule and achievable nationhood. Nor would they be able to harp about Kashmir being an issue and Pakistan being a party to it. Their parties stand decimated and their entire cadre is disillusioned. Jammu & Kashmir being turn into a Union Territory has changed the political landscape of the erstwhile state where Kashmir-centric politicians called the shots for the past seven decades. These politicians need to bear in mind that if they don't change their mindset then their future is bleak as it is they have become irrelevant. People of Kashmir have remained silent on their detentions and no one has come out to seek their release. The 30-odd politicians who were detained at posh Centaur Hotel initially have been shifted to MLA Hostel in Srinagar and it looks like that they would be shifted to ordinary jails if they continue to remain adamant. Ram Madhav has said too many things without defining different ways to deal with them.
