To pretend 'powerfulness', Kashmir netas float 'rumours' of getting appointed as Advisors

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 17: Even as the government has been silent over appointment of any new faces as Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu, some of the politicians in Kashmir are allegedly floating rumors of being the probable for the post, only to pretend being "more powerful and close to New Delhi".
In the last around a month, some of the politicians, including those from national parties are allegedly themselves telling their cadres that their name has been "proposed for the post of Advisor and that the same would be finalized by the Lieutenant Governor in the coming weeks."
Some of the Kashmiri politicians including those from the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) are among such politicians apart from a former bureaucrat turned politician who couldn't get more than a few dozen votes in one of the Assembly elections he previously contested in the valley.
Sources said the BJP leaders are "deliberately floating such news so that the official machinery and other influential people keep them in good humor."
"Since the day he (BJP leader) told us that he would be appointed as the Advisor, officials and businessmen keep visiting him to keep him in good humor," said a source close to a BJP leader.
Interestingly, since the establishment of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, some of the regional politicians, including those presently jailed have been dreaming of becoming the Advisors, seemingly to pretend before people that are still- well connected in the corridors of power.
Prior to that some of the senior leaders including those from the National Conference and the Peoples Conference were dreaming of being appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to Early Times on the condition of anonymity, a senior official said, "It has become a joke among the officials that almost every one of them(politicians) claims that he or she will be appointed as Advisor soon."
Despite repeated attempts those politicians who allegedly float such rumors couldn't be contacted for comments.
