Advisor Sharma for speedy implementation of Power infra augmentation schemes

JAMMU, Dec 17: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, KK Sharma today directed for speeding up implementation of schemes meant for augmentation of power infrastructure including transmission capacity enhancement so that adequate supply can be provided to the people.
The Advisor was speaking at a meeting convened to review and discuss implementation of various schemes aimed at further streamlining the power scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.
Commissioner Secretary Power Development Department, Hridesh Kumar; Secretary (Technical) Power Development Department; Chief Engineers from EMRE Wing; S&O Wing and Project Wing besides other senior officers were present in the meeting.
The Advisor had a detailed review of all flagship schemes being executed by the Power Development Department.
Reviewing the progress and the targets of the schemes, the Advisor directed for speeding up the execution of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes maintaining that the officers should hold regular meetings to remove the bottlenecks, if any, so that these could be completed within the stipulated timeframe without incurring any cost escalation. He asked the officers to constitute technical committees at District level to address minor issues concerning the projects besides taking up the same with other concerned departments.
While discussing the augmentation works, creation of new sub-stations, laying of new HT/ LT lines, installation of new Distribution Transformers etc under these schemes, the Advisor asked the officers to work hard towards further improving power distribution system in the UT.
The Advisor, while discussing dilapidated condition of distribution infrastructure, asked the Engineers to identify all worn-out poles and conductors in the region so that sufficient funds are made available to replace the same on a mission mode for creating robust distribution infrastructure.
The Advisor also reviewed the status of R-APDRP (Part A and B) and called for early completion of all the ongoing works being executed under the scheme meant for augmentation of the electric edifice in major cities and towns of J&K.
The meeting also reviewed implementation of Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUJGY), Saubhagya, Integrated Power Development scheme (IPDS) and Prime Minister's Development Package (PMDP).
