Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 17: Post abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 last, the internet ban continues to hit worst the business community and students in particular in entire newly carved out union teritory of Jammu and Kashmir besides common people, users of social media networks etc under digital India points fingers towards the JK administration asking what is the locus standi of prolonged no access to internet services to the peple of Jammu for the last over four months.
We can understand that due to security reasons ban has been imposed by the administration but at the same time several districts of Jammu were very much peaceful and there was no need to continue with internet ban any longer said a business man of Jammu while talking to EarlyTimes.
We were finding it very convenient to download several information from the net which could help the students as well as teachers in the studies but for the last quite sometime our work has been hampered due to unnecessary internet ban said a group of students who wished not to be named, adding even cyber cafe installations were also without internet facility which has made a common man's life hell because we were dependent on it and now without it we are just paralysed said another person who is working in education department.
Early Times talked in detail with people from all walks life in different districts of Jammu which include Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch and Kathua besides other surrounding areas where people expressed their resentment over continuous barred services of internet in Jammu division. It is pertinent to mention that internet services were restored for a day or so with low speed soon after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35 A in August last, but some miscreants uploaded incriminating messages forcing authorities to stop access to it with immediate effect and since then the facility is barred to entire union teritory of Jammu and Kashmir.
A forum of senior citizens of Jammu have expressed their hope and urged Jammu and Kashmir administration to look into the needs of people in general and business community and students in particular and restore the sevices of internet facility to Jammu division for the larger interest of the society.
