CEO SMVD Shrine Board inaugurates 15-day winter sports coaching camp

KATRA, Dec 25: Ramesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board inaugurated a 15-day annual winter sports coaching camp at the Shrine Board's Sports Complex at Katra. The camp has been organised with a view to hunt the outstanding sporting talent and develop basic sporting skills in various games and sports among the youth.
In all, 160 boys and girls students of various educational institutions of district Reasi and the adjoining areas in the different age groups besides trainees of the Sports Complex are participating in the coaching camp during which they will be provided coaching by the highly experienced coaches in the disciplines of athletics, football, basketball and judo. Besides, advanced coaching will be given during the camp to the archers and shooters who are already undergoing training at the Sports Complex. Speaking on the occasion, Ramesh Kumar impressed upon the participants to draw optimum benefit from the expert coaching, state-of-the-art facilities, equipment and other wherewithal made available at the Sports Complex. He added that such coaching camps will go a long way in promoting sporting talent among the youth of the area enabling them to improve their game and make a mark in the various sports events at different levels. He declared the coaching camp open. The CEO also felicitated the outstanding sports persons on the occasion who have won medals and prizes in various national and international level competitions.
Earlier, the participants of the coaching camp were introduced to the CEO of the Shrine Board.
Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, SMVDSB dwelt on the various sports events organized by the Shrine Board in the past months giving details about the achievements of the sports persons being trained at the coaching centres of the Shrine Board's Sports Complex.
Among those present on the occasion were prominent citizens, including Rakesh Wazir, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Shyam Kesar, A. S. Katoch and R. S. Manhas, besides sports lovers, youth and students of the area.
