AAP castigates installation of toll plazas in Jammu region
12/25/2019 10:24:25 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 25: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), District Samba unit has said that the Toll plaza at Sarore in district Samba is a fourth toll plaza gift to the people of Jammu in general & the people of Samba in particular.
District Samba incharge, Kuldeep Kumar Rao expressed strong resentment over newly established Toll plaza at Sarore and described it a state sponsored money minting check post to give benefit to its blue eyed contractors at the cost of local population and the pilgrims.
He questioned such installation of Toll Pzazas after every 40 kms and smelled rat in the process. Rao said that three Toll Plaza at Lakhanpur (Kathua District), Ban (Jammu District) & Chenani-Nashri (Udhampur District) were already functional in Jammu region and the installation of fourth Toll plaza at Sarore in District Samba at a distance less than 40 Kms from Ban toll Plaza had not only violated the norms of NHAI but also subjected the local population & the pilgrims to further loot & extortion.
Rao has urged upon the Minister of Roads & Transport & also to the National Highway authorities to immediately rollback the decision on toll taxes collection at Sarore.
He further said that centre government has imposed heavy traffic penalties on the people of the country by amending the Motor Vehicle Act 2019 & the government has claimed that during 2019-20 the revenue realization on this account shall cross over Rs. One lakh crores. He said that instead of improving infra-structure on ground & improving roads conditions, the government is adopting more punitive steps than reforming the system. He urged upon the government to reconsider the decision as many BJP & opposition ruled states have declined to implement the new M.V. Act in its present form.
