Civil works on AIIMS Jammu to start in February 2020: Atal Dulloo

Jammu, Dec 25: Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo today visited the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu, being established at Vijaypur in Samba district.
During his interaction with the concerned officers present at the site, the FC took stock of present status of works being executed there. He said that actual civil works on the Institute would be taken up in the month of February 2020.
The FC enjoined upon the officers to work in tandem so that the process of construction of this premier health institute is carried out in a smooth and expeditious manner for timely completion and operationalization thereof.
Central Public Works Department, executing agency for the AIIMS project in Jammu, assured that the tendering process for the civil works will be initiated soon.
During the visit he enquired about various issues like construction of approach road to AIIMS, provision of water supply, electricity and other related utilities of the project.
The FC was informed that 50 per cent work on double lane approach road to AIIMS has been completed while work on the remaining portion is in progress.
Public Health Engineering Department informed that they have completed three tube wells and the rest will be completed within the stipulated time frame. Regarding work on the receiving station, Power Development Department informed that the work is in progress and is expected to be completed in next four months. Besides, 12 km transmission power line has also been completed while tendering has been done for the remaining work.
Later, the Financial Commissioner inspected the proposed site for construction of Medi-City at Vijaypur and asked the concerned authorities to expedite the process for transfer of land so that work can be started at an earliest.
The FC asked the officers to explore possibility for adding more land in addition to the identified 380 kanal of land for construction of Medi-City at Vijaypur. The Medi-Cities would have facilities like Medical Colleges and Hospitals, Super-Specialty Centres of excellence, Nursing, Pharmaceuticals, Hospital Management and Dental Colleges, Ayurvedic Colleges and Hospitals and Medical Education Hubs, AYUSH centres, Research Centres with residential areas, staff quarters and Guest Houses, etc.
The officers present on the occasion included Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Director Health Services, Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Samba and other senior officials of various departments.
