Dogra Front & Shiv Sena stages protest against PDD
1/8/2020 11:07:45 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 8: The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena under the leadership of President Ashok Gupta took out a protest rally in Jammu city against nonavailability of electricity in Jammu.
People of Jammu are being deprived of basic facilities and the power supply to the city is extremely poor. The shortage of power supply has led to the scarcity of water in the city. The residents in the Jammu region are grappling with the erratic power supply.
Not only that, with no proper seating arrangement in the absence of electricity, there is no respite from the intense winters for the residents. Ashok Gupta said that people are using gas and kerosene, they are getting wood as heating the arrangement, explaining the way they deal with the electricity crisis.
Ashok Gupta stated that even after the implementation of regulation for no cuts of electricity, why there were power cuts in the entire Jammu region. In 2018 during the inauguration of Kishan Ganga power project, PM Modi stated that J&K has the resources not only to solve their electricity problem but supply electricity to the entire nation.
The hydropower projects in J&K has the capacity to produce 20,000MW electricity but the state is only producing 3,426 MW electricity.
Expressing resentment over improper supply of electricity, the protesters carried electric heaters in their hands to show that they were of no use without electricity. Gupta alleged that Jammu region is without light in bone-chilling temperatures. He said the power cuts along with fluctuation and low voltage have made the lives of people miserable.
On one hand, the PDD does not ensure a regular supply of electricity and drinking water, on the other hand, it acts like a dictator and immediately disconnects the connections if any consumer deposits tariff a little late. The party workers who were present at the time of protest were Prem, Rakesh, Nikku, Bantu, Sunil, Naresh, Abhishek, and various others were present.
