Advisor Sharma asks R&B Deptt to ensure quality of works
Discusses UT's Road Maintenance Policy

JAMMU, Jan 8: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, K K Sharma today asked the Roads & Buildings department to ensure quality control and audit of works to maintain high standard and create durable assets.
The Advisor was speaking at a review meeting of Directorate of Design Inspection and Quality Control (DIQC), here.
The meeting was attended by Director Finance PWD Mazhar Khan; Joint Director DIQC and senior officers of the Public Works department.
The meeting was informed that quality issues related to Public Works Department will be monitored by the Directorate of Design Inspection and Quality Control (DIQC), which would also give necessary inputs about the measures to be taken to ensure the same. It was also given out that the design of the future roads would be vetted by the Directorate and it would also ensure the preparation of the requisite DPRs.
The Advisor directed for putting in place an effective mechanism for facilitating the quality check by the DIQC and asked the officers of the different wings of the R&B department to synergize their execution plan with the suggestions being given by the Directorate. He said this would ensure high quality of works, which would be long lasting and in consonance with the national standards.
The Advisor also discussed the draft of upcoming ‘Road Maintenance Policy’ of J&K maintaining that the same would go a long way in having a plan and transparent way of maintenance of roads across the Union Territory. He said that it would also address various other issues and also ensure extension of several other R&B sector schemes to J&K.
Meanwhile, the Advisor met former Minister and President Dogra Sadar Sabha, Gulchain Singh Charak and discussed several issues related to the preservation of cultural heritage and traditions of Dogras. The restoration work of Mubarak Mandi heritage complex was also discussed in the meeting.
Former legislator, Mohammad Amin Bhat also called on the Advisor and projected several issues related to the Devsar constituency, including up-gradation of power infra and transformers in Gujjar Basti, Malikabad, PMGSY roads and construction of Sadoora-Kamad Bridge, sanctioned under the World Bank Project.
