DC inaugurates Blood donation cum awareness camp on 3rd day of Road Safety Week

RAJOURI, Jan 13: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh, today inaugurated eye check-up, Blood Donation and awareness camp organised by Motor Vehicle Department Rajouri for commercial drivers at New Bus Stand.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Liaqat Choudhary, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Inzar Ahmed Rana, while Inspector MVD Rajeev Basin, Ward councillors MC Rajouri, officials Motor Vehicle Department and Health Department were present on the occasion.
A team of doctors from Health Department conducted medical check-up and eye check-up of drivers and conductors of the commercial vehicles and also assisted during the blood donation event.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said the objective of this initiative is to ensure clearer vision and safe travel for commercial drivers who are the most frequent users of highways. He said eyesight is a basic requirement for safe driving.
He also advised the participants to avoid over speeding, racing, drunken driving use of mobile phone while driving, wrong overtaking and underage driving to stop loss of precious human lives. He stressed upon the youth to bear helmet and seat belt while driving two wheeler or four wheeler to avoid fatal injuries. He also advised them to obey traffic rules in order to stop the loss of lives in road accidents.
More than 80 drivers participated in Medical and Eye camps and around 10 participants donated blood during the camp.
