Use of heaters in Rajouri's PDD offices deepens power crisis | | | Sushil Dutta Ealry Times Report RAJOURI, Jan13: Though Power Development Department (PDD) every now and then makes appeals to electricity consumers to use power judiciously but the department itself is failing to implement the fervent appeals in letter and spirit in its offices in Rajouri as its employees are openly using room heaters in their offices. PDD officials' rooms are seen warming up throughout the day by room heaters to prevent cold but they simply forget that its indiscriminate use is having an adverse effect on the city's electricity supply. Everyone from officer to lower level employee is resorting to use of room heater. Throughout the day, employees are seen in the offices protecting themselves from the cold with the help of room heaters. On the other hand series of raids were conducted by department in various areas of Rajouri town and seized a large number of illegal power appliances being used by the people which were putting extra load on power. The team also disconnected several illegal connections during its raid and warned the defaulters that strict action will be taken against those who were found to be involved in this practice in future, but the million dollar question remains is such strictness only for general public? Haphazard use of room heater directly impacts the city's electricity system. Increased use of equipment such as illegal room heaters, boilers, is the cause of overloading. As a result, series of transformers are blowing one after the other. |
