| Militant killed, hideout busted in Kashmir | | |
Srinagar, Jan 13: One militant was killed in an encounter with security forces which broke out during a Cordon And Search Operation (CASO) in Budgam district of Central Kashmir on Monday evening.
Security forces also unearthed a militant hideout and recovered arms and ammunition in Shopian district of South Kashmir. However, militants managed to escape before the hideout was raided.
Official sources told the following specific information about presence of militants, security forces launched a CASO at village Dehrampora, Chandoora this afternoon. However, when security forces were sealing the particular area in the village, militants hiding there fired at them with automatic weapons. "Security forces retaliated, ensuing in the encounter" they said, adding one militant who was killed in the exchange of fire. The operation was going on when the reports last came in. Additional security forces have been rushed to further cordon off the area to foil any attempt by the militants to escape. |
