Two injured, two escape in Assar landslide

Jammu, Jan 12: In yet another tragic landslide on Kishtwar-Jammu National Highway, two person received injuries while two other escaped unhurt after their vehicle was hit by landslide near Assar, some 140 KM from Jammu on Doda-Batote stretch of NH 44.
As per the details available with Early Times, the ill fated vehicle bearing Registration No. JK17-7634 (Scorpio) was hit by boulders trigger due to sudden landslide in which two persons namely Asgar Hussain Mattoo received critical injuries along with another person Sanjay Kumar who was later discharged after treatment at Assar Hospital while another person Sheraz Ahmed Sheikh and minor escaped unhurt. As soon as the accident took place, the other people who were traveling on the road after noticing the accident immediately started rescue operation and shifted the injured to Assar Hospital from where one person namely Asgar Hussain Mattoo was shifted to GMC Jammu.
Meanwhile heavy rains create havoc in Chenab belt as a result of which various roads got blocked due to landslides and shooting stone. Keeping in view of heavy rain and snowfall, the normal life got effected and many areas witnesses darkness due to non availability of electricity. Weather men has predicted more rain and snowfall in Chenab belt for next 48 hours and authorities had already issued advisories for landslides and snow avalanches in upper reaches of the Chenab belt.
The people has been advised not to travel during night hours on Kishtwar-Jammu NH and other local roads to avoid any untowards incident.
