Jammu, Jan 19: The Union Minister for Railways and Commerce Industry Piyush Goyal on Sunday described Jammu and Kashmir as a jewel of India and said centre would soon come up with an industrial package for Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal was in Jammu as a part of week-long public outreach programme initiated by the Centre to apprise people of the potential benefits of the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status after nullification of Article 370 of the Constitution.
Goyal was a part of the second batch of seven Union ministers who reached Jammu and addressed a series of public meetings and inaugurated various projects in different districts.
Moreover, Union Minister inaugurated various projects at Akhnoor through “E-Inauguration” which include food protection work at River Chenab Jiapota Ghat Akhnoor and E-Inauguration of Indoor Sports Stadium, Akhnoor.
Addressing a gathering later at K.R Resort, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, “There were various projects in Jammu and Kashmir, which could not, took place in last 70 years. But since the governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir after June 18, 2018 the development work has gathered pace”.
Union Minister further said that under the Prime Minster Development Package 58,627 crore rupees would have been utilised for 54 projects. And whole fund would have been spent by Centre government on priority basis.
“However, I was astonished to see that before the governor rule that was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir on June 18, 2018, only 7 projects were completed, work was going on 22 projects, 10 projects were going on snail pace, 6 were on DPR stage and work on 9 projects was not even started”, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said.
He added that after passing 18 months, in the month of December 2019, the situation changed first by governor rule than after becoming Union Territory, the situation completely changed. As of now, 14 projects stands completed, work on 35 projects is going on, instead of 10 projects earlier now only on three projects work is going on snail pace and that will be put on fast track completion. “Not only that now only 4 projects are on DPR stage and there is only project where work is yet to start. It means out of 54, projects stands working and complete on 53 projects and by March 2021, 25 projects will be completed under the investment of 25,000 crore”, Goyal said.
He added that I am happy to share that electricity has reached in every corner of Jammu and Kashmir through Saubhagya Yojna.
And, through the scheme electricity reached in more than 3 Lakh households. Also local administration received 100 crore special award for commendable job for carrying Saubhagya Yojna.
Union Minister further said that three major project which include of power project were not completing or were halted because of one way or the other are now being development at an excellent pace under the leadership of Prime Minster Narendra Modi.
“Also there were two Irrigation Projects that were halted. Now, work on those projects is being done which will favour farmer over here in the region”, Goyal added. “What we have heard since our childhood that it is paradise on earth. It was paradise on earth and it will remain so as well. It is a jewel of the country and truly a paradise on earth and I am proud of Jammu and Kashmir,” Goyal said.
Later talking to reporters at Jammu Airport, Union Minister said, “I am very happy at the progress (of development) that I have seen on the ground and I am sure that in the days and months to come this process will continue relentlessly.
We will soon come out with an industrial package and we hope to see large amounts of investment coming to Kashmir”.
