PG College Rajouri organizes PBR Meet

Rajouri, Jan 20: The Department of Botany of Government PG College Rajouri organized the People Biodiversity Register (PBR) preparation Meet in collaboration with J&K Forest – Rajouri here today. OP Sharma Vidyarthi, Director State Forest Research Institute, Jammu and Secretary of PBR was the Chief Guest. He detailed the audience about the importance and preparation of this pertinent document. While speaking on the occasion, Prof.(Dr.) Shakeel Ahmed Raina, Principal of the College, who presided over the function, emphasized the need of Biodiversity conservation and revealed its significance from religious point of view as well. Mushtaq Choudhary, Warden – Wildlife, Rajouri-Poonch Range, Prof. Mangat Ram, Bashir Malik, Ex- range officer, Sarpanch Alam Din from Kotranka, Babu Khan, Chairman - BDC Kalakote, Prof. Iqbal Raina, Shafeeq Malik and Samina Sheikh also spoke on the occasion. Prior to the meet a few plants of Cedrus and Juniper were also planted to mark the beginning of plantation season in Peerpanjal. Staff and students of college, officers from forest department, Wildlife, Agriculture, WWF, BGSB University Rajouri, members of Block Development Councils and civil Society attended the meeting. Earlier, Dr. Anwer Shah, Head of Botany Department welcomed the guests while Sanjay Sharma DFO Rajouri introduced the audience about the programme. Dr. Ashaq Malik conducted the proceedings of the meeting whereas Range Officer Naik presented vote of thanks.
