REASI, JANUARY 21: Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda today concluded two day tour of this mountainous district after chairing a public meeting here at Arnas.

The Union Minister was greeted by the members of local tribal community- who had gathered in large numbers amid heavy downpour.

Addressing the public meeting, he reiterated the government’s resolve of facilitating two-way communication between the govt. and the people. ‘We are determined to expedite sluggish pace of projects and accelerate development programmes for the tribal as well as the general masses’, he said.

Arjun Munda informed the people that after reorganisation of the erstwhile J&K state, the Forest Rights Act is applicable here and its benefits would be visible in the days to come. He also assured to address the genuine demands projected by the people. "I assure you an appropriate follow up of your demands" he said, while referring to the demand of providing the benefit to many left out eligible households under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and other social welfare schemes.

“People of Reasi are keen to see development of their area and we are also inclined to look into every genuine demand for their development, especially tribal population”, said the Union Minister.

Earlier, the Union Minister inaugurated a newly constructed road at Chinkah. He was accompanied by Administrative Secretary Tribal Affairs Department Abdul Majid Bhat and Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib. At an earlier event, he also inaugurated Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall at village Mari of block Reasi.
