Don’t be scared of terror-tactics of BJP: Harsh to civil society
1/31/2020 9:52:32 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

R.S PURA, Jan 31: Accusing the political leadership of Jammu of demonstrating political cowardice in the face of “rule of whim” being run in the state by “an authoritarian regime”, Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister today appealed the civil society to rise to the occasion so as to fill the gaps in effective representation of people of the dogra land facing crisis of identity and culture.
He said that the recent developments in the region have created uncertainty and fear in the minds of the people who are made to compromise with their rights as free citizens under the garbs of national interests, said Singh.
Can anyone be allowed to destroy the freedoms that our ancestors, dogra warriors fought to defend, questioned Singh?
“Not only were restrictions imposed upon unfettered exercise of constitutional guarantees but Jammu region continued to be disregarded despite it having overwhelmingly supported the abrogation of Art 370 and allied provisions”, he added.
“And while Jammu continued to be neglected and taken for granted even after Art 370 abrogation, Kashmir continued to receive priority attention at the cost of the former. It was deplorable that majority of Jammu based leaders were shamelessly watching the developments with cold criminal silence and cowardly submitting before all dictatorial moves of powers that be”, he lamented.
He said that with internet services having been snapped for the last around six months in a peaceful Jammu, the political leadership seemed to have abdicated its responsibility of taking up the issue with the helmsmen. And despite huge inconvenience and losses being caused to various sections of society including students, traders, transporters, employees and common man, the leaders were light lipped for fear of reprisals.
Urging upon the civil society to support NPP without any fear, Singh said that it should project the concerns of the highly aggrieved people of the incarcerated dogra land who felt let down by their leaders.
He said while Ladakh and Kashmir were being adequately addressed by the Union govt. with several central delegations announcing schemes for their socio-economic development, the Jammu region continued to suffer deprivation. He said that traders of Jammu had been the worst suffers of the recent developments with political class watching them in distress while remaining mute spectators.
