People seek LG’s intervention

JAMMU, Mar 2: The youth of Marwah and Warwan Tehsils of Kishtwar District that remains cut off from the rest of the state during winters today called up on the Lt Governor G C Murmu to seek his immediate intervention with regard to various issues related to the administrative collapse and government apathy towards these twin tehsils.
During their interaction with the LG, the youth informed that the majority of the offices on the name of these areas are operational from the Kishtwar Headquarter since last several years.
As per the details available with “Early Times”, the youth and elected Sarpanchs of the area said that Marwah and Warwan areas remain cut off from rest of the world since last several months due to prevailing weather conditions and there has been no serious effort by the district administration or the government to provide relief to the poor inhabitants of these areas, adding that all the government offices are closed except the Police Station and SDM who often attended the office.
“It is a matter of deep concern that despite having less snowfall this winter— Margan road was not made motorable nor was there any additional air service was put into place for airlifting the stranded people as demanded during the recent visit of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar in the area,” said Sarpanch Amjad Hussain. Sarpanch Amjad Hussain said that they also discussed the non-availability of doctors in hospitals which resulted into the loss of precious lives adding that even for a small disease or minor accident; the people have to rush the patients to Kishtwar on foot after covering two days distance. “The new academic session is also going to commence and the two HS schools have no permanent staff and those who are posted there don’t turn up for the duty which has put the future of our youth at stake” said a youth from Warwan.
The delegation also took up the matter of the Solar Grid and VSAT system of BDO office Warwan and Marwah being kept uninstalled deliberately even after all the machinery is dumped years ago.
“The only BDO who tried to install was transferred within one month of his appointment just because of political influence. The proposed biometric attendance system is not workable in Marwah and Warwan as there is no electricity in these tehsils,” maintained people. The angry people informed that every time CMs, Ministers, Advisors, top Government Officials listened the grievances very keenly and assured them to take health and education related issues seriously, but nothing was done in practical.
It is pertinent to mention here that after Early Times carried a report last week, DC Kishtwar held a meeting with HoDs of various departments and directed them to ensure the attendance of all employees posted in the area, beside also directed them to ensure establishment of government offices meant for Marwah Sub Division at headquarter Nawapachi Marwah beside also nominated some officials who had been asked to attend the public at Marwah once in a week.
