| People up in arms against illegal auto stand in Doda | | | Masood Malik

JAMMU, Mar 8: People of Doda city have expressed their anguish over the illegal auto stand situated near old bus stand thus creating huge traffic jams, noise pollution and public nuisance in the area.
Submitting an application to ARTO which has been signed by prominent citizens of the area have urged that the illegally situated auto stand be shifted from its existing place immediately as it has become a public nuisance they alleged.
There were 100 to 150 autos operating from this stand in which only 30 to 40 autos have valid documents and drivers while as most of the autos were being plying on roads by minors without any proper documentation they further added. The Shopkeepers who are in the vicinity of old bus stand told Early Times that their business was also affected by the illegal occupation of the space by auto owners.
They said though then ARTO and DySP Doda had taken action against the autodrvers previously but after their transfer the matter went in cold storage they alleged. Despite the space belonging to old bus stand as per the revenue records the auto owners have occupied it illegally the application further reads.
When contacted Executive officer Municipal Committee Doda,Sanjay Kumar said that it was in his knowledge but due to ongoing strike in municipality the action was not initiated as yet in the matter while ARTO Doda Kuldeep Singh gave a damn to the call of this reporter. |
