Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 8: Despite a blanket ban on smoking in public places and public awareness campaigns being carried out by different government agencies to check the menace, the smokers, it seem, are least bothered to abide by the rules as they still miss no opportunity to smoke in open.
And, it looks more blatant when a cop, who is duty bound to enforce laws himself found puffing a cigarette in a public place in sheer violation of the ban on such an act.
A few passersby when noticed that a police man is smoking near Maharaja Hari Singh Park, Jammu, clicked pictures of the offence being committed by him with impunity. “If such is the behavior of a police man then how the general public can be asked to adhere to the rules. In case a common man had been smoking then much hue and cry was made and a fine under rule had been imposed on him but who will ask for a penalty from a cop for breaching the law.
People have demanded action against the erring cop from IGP Jammu.
