Police recovers body of missing man, accused arrested for murder

Rajouri, Mar 8: The Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri district have recovered body of a missing man from hilly area of Budhal and have arrested the accused of the case who happens to be a relative of the victim.
Sharing details, police in Rajouri said that a few days ago, family members of a man resident of Charar e Sharif Budham approached the police in Rajouri that the said man identified as Ghulam Nabi Khanday had come to Rajouri to meet his relatives but is untraceable since then.
Taking cognizance, police registered a missing report in Rajouri police station and a team headed by SHO Rajouri Sameer Jillani under the supervision of Deputy SP Headquarter Surinder Khadyal started investigation and relatives of missing man were also questioned while few suspects were also rounded up.
During questioning, police said, the activities of one of the missing man’s relative identified as Shabir Ahmed Dar son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Dar resident of Gabbar Budhal were found suspicious who was detained and put to sustained questioning by police team who confessed and narrated that the missing man has been murdered and his body has been kept beneath a rock in the Budhal Upper Rajnagar area.
Police said that soon after the sensational confession by the suspect, a team of police headed bf SHO Rajouri Sameer Jillani rushed to Budhal on Sunday morning and with the assistance of Budhal police station team, succeeded in recovering the body of victim who stand identified as Ghulam Nabi Khanday son of Mohammad Abdullah Khanday, resident of Charar e Sharif in Budgam district of Srinagar.
Police said that in the initial investigation, it has come to fore that the accused had promised victim for arranging his marriage with a girl after which victim came from valley alongwith cash of two lakh rupees.
However, with a criminal intention, accused, who is a close relative of victim, hatched a conspiracy and murdered him and also snatched his two lakh rupees.
Police said that after recovery of the body, it has been shifted to Rajouri GMC Hospital for post mortem examination by a board of doctors whereas a case in FIR 120/2020 under sections 302 IPC have been registered in Rajouri police station and accused Shabir Ahmed Dar resident of Gabbar Budhal have been booked and arrested.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Chandan Kohli said that a special investigation team headed by Additional SP Rajouri, Liyaqit Ali is further investigating the matter to ascertain involvement of more person in the murder of the victim.
