HT line falls on truck, driver dies, conductor injured in Brath Sopore

BARAMULLA, Mar 9: A truck driver was killed while a conductor suffered injuries and two persons boarding the truck had a miraculous escape today morning after a high tension transmission line fell on a truck in Gund Brath village of Sopore town, after which locals protest against the PDD for their negligence.
A local resident of Gund Brath, Nisar Ahmad informed early times and said that, according to an eyewitness that a truck that was on its way from Gund Brath to Sopore after which their truck came into contact with a live, High Transmission voltage line at around 10:45 a.m, and resulting in on spot death of a driver and injuries to the conductor.
There are narrow roads and unfortunately transmission lines are also passing from the same area and they were never tightened by the authorities of PDD concerned despite the fact that, many times in past the locals requested the department concerned to tighten them over the electric poles, but deaf ear was given to our pleas, said Nisar Ahmad.
A group of locals said that, the truck came into contact with a live HT line, but it was all because of the negligence of PDD department to whom many times in past we requested them to tighten the electric lines, but they failed in their duty.
Locals identified the deceased truck driver as Waheed Ahmad Lone 33 S/O Khazir Mohammad Lone R/O Zaloora, while as the truck conductor got seriously injured who was identified as Gulzar Ahmad Lone S/O Abdul Aziz Lone, hails from the same village Zaloora in Sopore town.
However both the local persons were immediately shifted to SDH Sopore where doctors declared truck driver as brought dead on arrival and a conductor is under treatment.
Soon after the incident, police reached on the spot and registered a case with regard to this unfortunate incident, said sources.
