SOG Jammu recovers 53 kgs of Charas in 2 operations

Jammu, Mar 11: Continuing its drive to eradicate menace of drugs form society, special teams which have specifically been constituted by SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil (IPS) and SSP SOG Sandeep Kumar Mehta, have achieved a major success by recovering a huge haul of narcotics (High quality Charas) from Jhajjer Kotli and Nagrota area of Jammu city.
Sharing details Patil said that one of the SOG teams led by SI Shabir Kohli along with SHO Jhajjar Kotli Insp. Rajesh Khajuria laid a naka at Ban Suketar where truck bearing JK02V/8028 was signalled to stop. Sensing trouble the driver of the truck stopped the truck mid-way and started running towards the jungle area. After a hard chase, the alert cops of SOG and police station were able to apprehend the accused driver who was identified as Iqbal Singh S/O Narjan Singh R/O Vijaypur Samba. On thorough search of the truck, 73 packets of Charas(Processed Cannabis) weighing about 51kgs were recovered by the team. SHO Police Station Jhajjar Kotli, Insp. Rajesh Khajuria took the cognizance and registered a case FIR No. 62/2020, U/S 8/20/25 NDPS Act, and initiated the investigation.
In 2nd such operation in the day, SOG team led by SI Arjun Magotra and SHO PS Nagrota Insp. Mohd Showkat laid a naka at Ban toll Plaza and signalled a Tavera bearing registration number JK12-9727 to stop. On thorough search of the Tavera vehicle, police team recovered 02 kgs of high quality Charas. A case FIR No. 124/2020 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Nagrota and further investigation is going on.
