ICDS workers of Narbal Block allege misbehaviour by supervisory staff

EARLY TIMES REPORT

SRINAGAR, Mar 11: The VIP culture still exists in various departments where some of the top officials or officers creates a sort of inferiority complex among the subordinate staff members, otherwise all are equal before law of the land, and same type of arrogances is being felt by some workers of Narbal block of ICDS.
According to sources that, the supervisory and other concerned staff members are habitual of hurling choicest abuses to subordinate staff including Anganwardi workers and helpers of ICDS block Narbal.
“One fails to understand that why there are some officials of the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) Office Narbal, that have become habitual of hurling choicest abuses over the Anganwardi Workers and Helpers, due to which they feel embarrassed due to arrogant approach of the concerned staff members, said sources.
It is a sort of character assassination, when your superiors abuses you in front of their colleagues over no fault of yours, though there is no doubt we are low grade employees before them, but we have not been recruited randomly to this department, we are well qualified, though luck has not favored us, but that doesn’t mean that the concerned staff will degrade or disrespect us, alleges a group of ICDS workers from Narbal Block
On wishing anonymity the workers told early times that, basically they (the ICDS officials) have not got an exposure about the work culture as they have not been transferred from past several years, some of the supervisory and clerical staffs are working in Narbal block from more than a decade.
A group of workers alleged that, besides their rude behavior, let the higher authorities do an audit of their supplies, be it a ration, or anything that was meant for the children, so that they will themselves come to know what sort of the huge embezzlement of stocks and other items have been made there, while as the ration supply doesn’t reach to the deserving children.
At least there should be a mass reshuffle in the ICDS department so that some transparency and accountability could be witnessed, if the situation remains so, the enrollment of children in ICDS centers will decrease with each passing day.
There are several other blocks like B K Pora, Beerwah, Soiubugh, Khan Sahib, S K Pora and others, but the ICDS block Narbal is one of the worst blocks in Budgam district, sources alleged.
