JKPCB holds public hearing

JAMMU, Mar 11: J&K Pollution Control Board Jammu today conducted a public hearing, here at Panchayat Ghar, Kishenpur, Manwal.
The Public Hearing was conducted as a part of the Environmental Clearance process under EIA for Mining of Minor Minerals (River Bed Mining) Project at Tawi River Upstream Dahr-Udhampur Road Bridge, Kishenpur Manwal, Tawi River downstream Railway Bridge, Kishenpur Manwal, Tehsil & District Jammu (J&K) for four numbers of Blocks. These Blocks are 1(1/1),2(1/2),4(1/4) and 6(1/6) situated at village Kishenpur .
The panel for the Public Hearing comprised SDM Marh, Tariq Hussain; Representative of the District Magistrate, Jammu, Representative of Regional Director, J&K PCB Jammu and Arshad Nazir Malik, Divisional Officer, J&K PCB Jammu North.
The Environmental Management Plan prepared for mining of minerals from the said blocks was explained to the general public by the Environmental Consultant, representing the Project Proponent.
It was followed by detailed public discussions and expression of opinions on various aspects of the plan.
A large number of queries were answered on the spot by the Project Consultant. All the issues raised were patiently heard and recorded in detail. The entire proceedings were also video graphed for onward submission to the appropriate authority.
The Public Hearing was attended by a large number of people including Sarpanchs and Panchs of adjoining Panchayats, prominent citizens and residents of Village Kishenpur, Manwal and adjoining areas and officials of Geology & Mining Department and representatives of the contractor. The Public Hearing concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Sh. Dimple Sharma, Field Inspector, J&K PCB, Jammu North.
