The Zero Tolerance For corruption
3/14/2020 11:30:28 PM

Omkar Dattatray

It is very strange and unfortunate that there is no national policy on corruption in India. It is doubly strange that there is no zero tolerance on corruption as there is zero tolerance against terrorism. It is very ironic and unfortunate that the nation has failed to declare zero tolerance for corruption and the reluctance & indifference against the menace of corruption is a serious problem. There is urgent need to declare a zero tolerance on corruption. From being a land of culture and spirituality, India has degenerated into a corrupt country and the country ranks among the first countries and this is a cause of serious concern. The problem of corruption has been institutionalized and there is hardly any segment of the government which does not face the monster of corruption. There is corruption from the top to bottom of the administrative hierarchy and on is faced with the menace of corruption. There is hardly any department of the government which is immune from the canker of corruption and the malady is so deep rooted that one is forced to compromise with his conscience. No work is done without greasing the palms of the corrupt babus and the man who resists the corruption looked down upon and is an odd man out. Ana Hazari had launched a crusade against the monster of corruption and very hesitantly has the Indian parliament legislated on the matter of the Lok pal and thank god that the country has now a lok pal/lol ayuhat and has passed Lok pal bill though indifferently. The credit for the passage of the Lok pal bill goes to the pressure tactics of the freedom fighter and Gandhian Ana Hazari and his team. Now even the highest office of the prime minister has come under the gambit of the Lok pal and it is so good. The scams, financial irregularities scandals have rocked the Indian state and we are looking as the mute spectators and this is a serious issue. In fact India has become a land of scams and scandals and all efforts should be made to curb the menace of corruption. There should be two pronged strategy to fight the demon of corruption and then only can we control corruption otherwise not. Corruption could be fought administratively and judicially but the tool of education can play be great part in fight against the corruption. We should attack the root of corruption and the root lies in the moral degradation of the society. Therefore we should make a morally strong nation and this can be done through the medium of education.
The country should be made culturally and morally strong and this can be done with means of education. Thus along with the administrative and judicial measures we should fight the monster of corruption with the measure of education. Tool of education is no doubt a long term measure whose results can be found after many years. So, administrative and judicial means should be put in motion to fight against the demon of corruption. The cancer of corruption has invaded and damaged the very vitals of the society and we should fight the corruption to the finish and save the common man from the ill effects of the corruption. The canker of corruption has invaded all parts of ours administrative and body politic and it is threatening our very existence. Corrupt officials should be put behind the bars and the honest officers and officials should be rewarded with promotions and this will go a long way to curb the menace of corruption. The fight against corruption is a challenging job and this requires strong willpower and determination. Thank god that at present we have a strong willed prime minister and he has wooed to fight the corruption to finish. The fight against the corruption is a mahayaga and all of us should contribute our bit to fight the canker of corruption. The war against the corruption should be made a peoples movement and it should be fought on a war footing. Any way we should fight corruption to the finish and save ourselves and the national resources from the ill effects of corruption. A national policy on corruption should be framed to tackle this hydra headed giant and that policy should be acted upon to curb the problem of corruption.
