Early Times Report

Rajouri, Mar 15: Amid prevailing scenario of pandemic Corona virus scare and large scale preventive measures taken by Government Authorities, The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya located in Kandi Kotranka area of Rajouri is yet to be closed and normal working is going in the institution.
JNV, a national level institute that comes under the control of Union Government, is located in Kandi Kotranka area of Rajouri. Locals from the area and guardians of few students studying in the institution and living in hostels said that the management of the institution is yet to declare holidays and is carrying the routine business. “We have approached the school management many times but they are saying to have no order from any side to close the school.” said parents and guardians wishing anonymity. “We are confused. Is JNV Kotranka not under the powers of District Magistrate Rajouri or Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir who have already ordered closure of schools.” parents added who further said that amid threat of Corona virus outbreak, they fear for the safety of their wards.
“We are simply stuck in the situation where all the education institutions, even upto the level of universities, are closed across the J&K Union Territory but Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is not following the directions of state government.” the parents further said and appealed government authorities either to close the institution or to put in place best possible arrangements for safety and health of the children. School Principal, when contacted, said, “ We have not received any directions of closure from concerned higher authorities. We are yet to receive any formal order in this regard.”
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh however said that higher authorities that include Divisional Commissioner Jammu have issued specific orders in this regard that are applicable for all. “We will check the matter.” DC Rajouri added.
