Jammu, Apr 15: Ashok Kumar Former MLA and a Senior Congress leader asserted that it is expected and certain that the government of India has extended the period of lockdown up to 3rd may on the account of rise of covid-19 cases in country.
However, on ground there are impromptu arrangements for food to daily wagers migrants and poor labourers and hitherto no groundwork preparations has been done for their evacuation to their native places. These besieged poor labourers are now on the verge of starvation. Ashok said that government should take steps to provide at least Rs 6000 in their accounts so that they can sustain livelihood in future.
Ashok said poor students who are stranded in different parts of country are facing same problems, they don’t have money to survive. Government should also take some important measures in providing financial help to the students, so that they could return home when arrangements are done under the protocol of covid-19. The young students are the future of our country and it is the responsibility of the government in power to protect the vulnerable section of people.
Ashok further stated that we must appreciate the role of local actors, political parties and NGOs who are demonstrating commendable work in distributing rations and other food items to the most vulnerable section of the people in these unprecedented times.
However, it is not possible for local actors to cover the demands of ration and financial help to millions of stranded people (mostly the unorganised labour) across the country. It is the duty if central government to provide essential services and shelter to this section of people who are also the citizens of our country and you can’t ignore them. “he told”. |
