| LMD imposed fine on erring traders | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Apr 15: On the directions of O.P. Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Joint inspection was conducted by the Legal Metrology Department, Drugs and Food, FCS&CA and Food safety Department at Main Bazar Kathua.
During the course of inspection the Inspector LMD Kathua booked 8 erring traders for violation of Legal Metrology Act and Rules. Assistant Controller LMD compounded seven cases on the spot and imposed Rs 22500 penalty. Similarly FCS&CA booked 6 traders for violation of Essential Commodities Act and imposed Rs 5500 fine.
Food safety Department directed the traders not to sell expired food items to the consumers and ensure quality products to the general public. Assistant Controller Drugs directed the medical shop owners to sell the sanitizers and masks at the prices fixed by the Govt. Any overcharging reported shall be viewed seriously and action shall be taken as per norms. The inspection team also directed the traders to follow the social distancing norms. |
