Liquor allegedly transported from Punjab under nose of police
Army seizes 160 bottles of liquor in Mendhar

Early Times Report

POONCH, Apr 23: Army has reportedly seized 160 bottles of liquor from a car in Mendhar of district Poonch today during a checking, which was allegedly transported from Punjab.
Sources told Early Times that 70 Field Regiment of Army, while conducting a checking during COVID-19 lockdown seized 160 bottles of liquor from a Wagon R car belonging to Mohammad Ishfaq son of Mohammad Shariq resident of Dharena in Mendhar, which was brought in the area illegally .
They further informed that after initial investigation, it was found that the liquor was transported from neighbouring state of Punjab through a private car. Shockingly, the vehicle crossed many JK Police nakas to reach Mendhar but nobody spotted it.
The locals of Mendhar raised serious question over the slackness of JK Police that how such a big consignment of liquor reached in Poonch during lockdown despite the fact that strict implementation of lockdown is being observed and nobody can enter into other district but such incident shows that some unscrupulous elements are taking advantage of this lockdown by selling liquor illegally in connivance of police.
As per police report, a FIR No. 75/20 U/S 48 A Excise Act has been registered. SDPO Mendhar Neeraj Padyar, when contacted said that investigation is going on and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
