EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Apr 26: After earlier faux pas, authorities are treading cautiously on taking decision on this year’s annual Amarnath Yatra. Instead of giving importance of ill-advice of some people, authorities are now taking all stakeholders into confidence before taking any final decision of this year’s Yatra.
Credible sources said that some organizations, involved in organizing langers on the route of Yatra, have given wrong information to the administration earlier and it was all due to that wrong information faux pas was witnessed earlier this week. “Now administration has decided to take all stakeholders into confidence”, sources said.
Credible sources further said that during his meeting with a delegation of Baba Amarnath and Buda Amarnath Yatri Niyas on Saturday, Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu made it clear that he would explore all possibilities before taking any decision on the Yatra.
Administration as well as social and religious organizations are trying their best to find a way out to ensure that annual Yatra would be held this year at any cost.
Sources said that delegation urged the LG that instead of cancelling the Yatra at this point of time, administration should wait for some weeks before taking any decision. As per official handout issued on Saturday, the Lt Governor while interacting with the members of the delegation, observed that due to the current COVID-2019 pandemic situation, appropriate decision on organizing the Yatras can only be taken after periodic reviews of the situation, as a comprehensive planning and execution is involved in the conduct of the yatras.
Members of the delegation made several suggestions like curtailment of yatra duration; allowing specific age group devotees; preference for online yatra registration; commencement of Heli-yatra earlier and delay in on-foot yatra as per the prevailing situation; operationalization of single route (Pahalgam route) etc.
