Udhampur Admin shows laxity against erring ration dealer
Caught red-handed for stocking unaccounted ration yet dealer continues to operate
5/22/2020 11:49:04 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 22: Despite being caught red-handed for stocking unaccounted government ration in the depot by the Udhampur administration, which was meant for the distribution during lockdown, but astonishingly instead of facing action, the erring ration dealer continues to sell ration from other shop, which raises finger on the administration.
The Block Development Council (BDC) Chairman Ramanagar Des Raj while talking to Early Times informed that during an inspection, which held on April 16, 2020, a team of concerned administration found irregularities in a ration depot of Panchayat Kagote of tehsil Ramangar of district Udhampur.
“The inspection team which was comprised of SDM Ramnagar, SDPO and Tehsildar found unaccounted 500-600 bags of dry ration stocked in the depot store, for which the dealer could not produce any document for this extra ration as a result taking action, the team sealed the depot and suspended the dealer,” he said.
Meanwhile, the revelations made by the alleged ration dealer indicated towards the involvement of concerned TSO, who helped him to provide extra ration. He said further adding that the dealer was taken into a very brief custody and was left free just few hours after his arrest and more shockingly, he has been selling ration from another shops which is just near to his previous shops which was sealed by the administration, this dubious character of administration has created confusion.
Chairman further said that when he talked to SDM Ramnagar about action against the erring dealer, he replied that FIR has been lodged but no copy of FIR or any other information of action was provided to him. Moreover, the administration could not answer that how a suspended dealer can continue to distribute ration from other shop, he added.
Meanwhile, expressing his concern about the pending distribution of ration, which could not be done due to sealing of depot, the Chairman BDC Ramnagar said that there are still around 30% people who are without ration of two months which was being distributed by the dealer before depot being sealed.
