Initiate political process in J&K 5/27/2020 11:54:59 PM Omkar Dattatray Governors rule is a temporary arrangement and it is no substitute for the popular government and the peoples rule is the panacea for the problems confronting the people and therefore the governors rule should pave way for the democratic people’s rule sooner and the political uncertainty should be ended for ushering a democratic dispensation and that is possible only if political process is started sooner than later. Thus the political process should be started and the governor’s rule should be ended for the interest of the people’s government. So all efforts should be made for the revival of the stalled political process so that a representative government is formed and for this the basic requisite is the initiation of the political process in the UT. For this to begin all the political detainees should be released except those against whom there are serious cases pending and thus to begin with this release of the political leaders is necessary. Political activity and process should be encouraged and allowed for the sake of democracy and thus political process be facilitated by the central government. Therefore it is the basic perquisite for the initiation of the political process that all political leaders should be released and they should be encouraged to take part in the democratic process .Electing of the people’s representatives is the necessary corollary for the political process to begin and we should take part in the democratic exercise. So democratic elections are the need of the hour and the elections should be held for the sake of forming people’s government. Howsoever the governor’s rule is honest but it cannot be a substitute for the popular rule and therefore the democratic process should be encouraged by the centre government and the UT administration. For the initiation of the political process it is necessary to repose trust in the local leadership and encourage them to participate in the much needed democratic exercise to see the democracy functioning in real sense .Thus what is needed is to start the democratic process and for this there is need to encourage the political leaders and activists to engage in the dialogue for the restoration of the political process which has been stalled in the wake of the abrogation of the controversial article 370 and the bifurcation of the erstwhile state into two union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and the Ladakh by passing of are solution in the country’s parliament on 5th and 6th of august of 2019 and the reorganisation came into effect on 31st of October 2019.The political activity and process came to a grinding halt due to these developments but such an affair could not be a permanent solution and the political process cannot remain in there for a pretty long time because it is undemocratic and unconstitutional and therefore the things should be normalised for the initiation of the stalled political process and this is possible only when the political leaders will take an initiative to start the genuine political process and for this it is necessary to hold elections in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and for the holding of the elections the political field should be created and all the stake holders should be encouraged to take part in the political process so that at an appropriate later date the democratic process can be held to restore the democratic rule in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. All the ground work should be done by the UT administration and the central government to hold the elections at an appropriate and conducive time and for this all the political leaders including the third front of Syed Altaf Bukhari should be encouraged along with the conventional regional parties of NC and PDP. The need of the hour is to make a conducive political atmosphere for the picking of the democratic process and the consequent voting in the UT to pave way for the installation of the people’s government which can work for the development of the people in the ultimate analysis. Therefore what is needed is to initiate the political process which will ultimately culminate in the holding of the much needed elections for the installation of the popular government for which the people of the UT are longing for and so it is in the fitness of the things to start the political process so that the elections will take place in the due course which will pave the way for the elections in the UT.
